The pain in my chest grows stronger each day and the urges that I need to do more become impossible to avoid. We have one calling which we are meant to do, but sometimes we never realize what specifically that calling is. My day job prevents me from writing, which is what I truly enjoy doing. As a web developer I have to watch others craft content that I spin and tweak to work on the web or at least make it look beautiful. I’m on the tail end of the journey for the content at my current job. For a writer it is maddening having to watch from the outside as others do what you love doing.

Though as the days grow and stretch on I know that I need to keep my eyes open for where I believe next and what I will end up doing. Not as easy to move onto new things these days since my life has hit the point where I have to look out for the well being of others. It’s hard to try to stay where you know your not happy or content with your work, but then again you have to realize that it has security. Now there are two double edged swords hanging over my head, the one with my family and the one with discontent in my work. With that in mind I guess I have to remember that my work provides me with a sense of security for my livelihood. Though if you’re not content then what are you meant supposed to do. There are times when I have to remember that I do not serve my bosses, or co-workers.

Change Your Perspective

I know on several occasions throughout this year I have forgotten who my real master in this world actually is. I see my managers, team leads, and project managers daily and lose track of who really is in charge of my life and my work.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. Ephesians 6:5-8 ESV

The times when I am at work the only master that I am to serve as a Christian is my Lord, my God, He is the one whom I answer to on a daily basis and the one whom I shall never leave the service of. When it comes to discontent at work the moment I remember whom I serve then it does change my perspective of the work that I am doing. The moments that I am stressed out of my mind and wanting to quit makes me want to move forward, because I know where the reward is.
