Driving home last night from my church’s gathering for National Day of Prayer I started thinking about all the different areas of our lives and the country that we were praying for. For a moment they all sounded distinct, but looking deeper the one prayer we should have been praying during the service is that we all put God back in our lives.

The systematic removal of God from our society and culture has been a bad choice for everyone. That decision has lead to a steady decline in our morals, thoughts, and the way we perceive each other. Out of all the issues that we face in our culture I pray that we start turning back to God. Most see Him as an old way of thinking that should have faded into the past long ago, but His Truth’s are still poignant and relevant for us today. Considering most who stand against the Bible do so out of fear of what it means and they find small minute, out of context reasons to say that since one part does not sound right then the whole Bible must be wrong.  I encourage all Christians to remain strong in their faith and not be intimidated by a fallen world.

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” James 1:2-4

Though on the flip side given the culture and decline of human morale that exists in the world we can clearly see that everything is not falling apart but falling into place. If you’ve read Revelation there are horrible circumstances waiting for those who reject God. And reading what will happen should bring any Christian to his or her knees to pray and act in the lives of those who do not know God.

During your regular prayer time ask God to fill your life and those that you interact with daily so that your life may be a beacon for those individuals that are lost, confused, angry, hurt, depressed, and beaten down by the circumstances in their life. It takes a lot of courage to make that prayer, but I pray that we will all be more committed to the calling we have.
